Has Twitter Crossed the Liberal Line? : Deverification Destroys First Ammendment

MIlo

Until a few days ago, I had no idea who Milo Yiannopoulos was.  As someone who supports gay rights and is a conservative, I should probably apologize to Milo for not know who he was … so, sorry, Bud!  But I know who you are now and you now have a new fan/follower.

Milo, a Brit by birth, is the often sharped-tonged Tech Editor for conservative news site Breitbart.com and has taken on some  savory topics as of late – which way well have had a hand in his recent trip to Twitter Jail.

In a nutshell, taking a page from the IRS who attempted to take away access to conservative groups requesting non-profit status, Twitter has decided that the best way to silence conservatives on their site is to use mild character assassination.  Milo is still unclear, some 48 hours later, as to why he lost his powerful verification check mark on his profile. Milo has yet to be told specifically what landed him in Twitter Jail even after repeated attempts for clarification.

The check mark’s purpose is to merely confirm the identity of the account.  So, Twitter choosing to use deverification as a punishment for an unspecified terms violation is somewhat suspect because suspending someone’s account is the norm for them. The beauty in all of this is that it has backfired on them and this may well only be the beginning.

Yet, this is a questionable narrative for Twitter to take against a B-List conservative with some 140,000 followers.  While liberals staunchly sit on their platform of equality, freedom of speech, acceptance and tolerance – clearly these are tenets that only fellow liberals are allowed access to in the Twitterverse.  Conservatives need not apply.

By taking control of the playing field as it were and limiting who is allowed to wield their tenets, it shows a calculated flaw in their narrative by syncing the message to the spin of their world view they limit what the general public has access too and indirectly allows ill-informed conclusions to be made.  The liberal MSM here in the US and Europe has enjoyed control for the past few decades yet their recent blatant bias against conservatives has more than enough people taking a pause – which is very good.

Moreover, what this tells those intuitive enough to grasp the overarching story line is that liberals, here specifically Twitter, can’t make a legitimate argument against the conservative narrative so they just simply cut it off at the knees.  The classic case of taking their ball home because they don’t like the score.  It shows a weakness, an inability to argue their case, an inability to have a clear understanding of their point of view but feebly defend it because they don’t want to be proven wrong.

It is also important to note that an unverified Twitter account under the name Michael Margolis , (@Yipe) who claims to be an Engineering Manager at Twitter, was most likely the individual who reported Milo to Twitter’s Terms of Service. His Twitter tagline reads, “Engineering Manager at . RTs are official endorsements. Tweets definitely express the opinions of my employer.”  Margolis has, interestingly enough, delete all of the tweets related to this incident that supposedly happened on Friday 1/8/2016 and is believed to have been in response to a tweet that Milo sent out to a fellow (female) conservative where he writes, “You deserve to be harassed.”

The fact that the recipient of Milo’s joke was female, the feminists have blindly come out in droves in support of Twitter’s retaliatory response to free speech.  (Please tell me I am not the only one seeing the sarcastic irony here).  Which leads me to my favorite tweet of the day where Twitter user Terri Hoy schools Huffington Post’s Jessica Thompson for her pseudo-feminism.

Milo has not taken this deverification sitting down and he has rightfully taken his argument to anyone who will listen.  He has changed his Twitter account from @Yiannopoulos to @Nero and taken to the hashtag #JeSuisMilo, a spin-off of the #JeSuisCharlie hashtag which took hold in January of 2015 to show the importance of freedom of the press after a French paper was terrorized and 14 employees were killed in a terrorist attack at their Paris offices.

There is also another conversation taking place between Milo and the folks at @Recode in response to their take on Milo’s verification loss – which again can be equated to the punishment not fitting the crime because verification only confirms identity and nothing more.  It is interesting that Recode’s article refers to Milo’s employer Breitbart.com as “a tabloid.”  But we’re not supposed to read anything into that, are we?

Milo told @Recode:

“If Twitter has decided to make partisan political editorial decisions, that’s their prerogative. But they must be honest with the public about it. Otherwise they risk damaging their key users’ reputations with ‘unverifications’ and suspensions that give the false impression of harassment, abuse or some other kind of bad behaviour, of which of course I am not guilty.”

Sadly, the left doesn’t play that way, they would never come out and admit that they were playing partisan politics because their modus operandi has always been to hide in the vagueness of reality with ambiguity as their ally while they continually ask for forgiveness instead of permission.

Are They All Truly Refugees?

Where are their wives, children and the elderly?
Where are their wives, children and the elderly?

It has been difficult the past few days, since the Paris attack, to watch social media and read how some feel that there is no real threat, that these people are true refugees yearning to breathe free.  Someone actually posted on Facebook that they felt they had to re-evaluate their view of me because they held me in such high regard … until they found out my stance on the Syrian refugees.

What people seem to be missing is that we are not getting the full story.  Over the last 40 years or so the media has discovered that their job is no longer to report the news in an unbiased fashion, it is now to use their position and the public’s trust to influence their opinions, thoughts and perspectives.  Even in some of the most liberal nations of Europe where the citizenry is being literally overrun by refugees, they are crying out for help that is far too late to ask for.  Mothers are seeing their daughters raped by refugees who devalue women as property.  Women, gays and other protected groups are being beaten in public because of the way they dress, walk or talk or because they may have glanced a bit too long at these outsiders that politicians happily welcomed but didn’t have to live with.

Today I watched an interview on Morning Joe on MSNBC where they interviewed NY-R Congressman Peter King about the concern over the refugees.  At one point King and co-host Mika Brezinzki got into a back and forth over whether or not these refugees were being vetted properly.  King insisted that based on what he has been told by people at the highest levels of government at Homeland Security and the FBI, there is no way to definitively vet these refugees because there are no databases or even collective agencies in their native country that can verify that they are who they say you are.

Naive Mika insisted that they were being vetted, they were being interviewed, they were getting medical histories and medical exams, etc.  Well, as I pointed out to Mika in a tweet, that’s not vetting – that is processing.  No one has any way of confirming that what US officials have been told about these individuals is true.  We have to take everything either at face value or with a grain of salt.

Far too many are trying, and unsuccessfully I might add, to equate these modern-day refugees with those who came on the Mayflower, those who were war refugees in the 60’s and even some from World War II.  While these individuals from history were clearly fleeing some type of persecution of evil.  We cannot be so sure about this conclusion with this group of “refugees.”  Why?  Well, there are several reasons, the most recent being the Boston Marathon Bombing which was carried out by two radicalized Muslims who were here as refugees and getting a significant amount of tax payer dollars to live while plotting their attack.

Going further still, many radical groups have come right out and told us, in no uncertain terms, what their plan is and how the will carry it out.  Our weak borders and illegal immigration issues are going to be what threatens us most as all of this becomes a definitive perfect storm.  Yet the elites of Washington and the governors of states who welcome these refugees will not be the one who suffer from the violence that awaits us.  And awaiting us it is.  The sleeper cells are here, they are waiting for the go-ahead and it will be everyday Americans like you and me who will suffer the chaos, the death and the tears.

They will be in our neighborhoods, in our schools with our children; not near the politicians who allowed them to come here.  It is elitism in its purest form.

I would ask you to watch this, and decide if you want this in your neighborhood.  Around your children, your elderly parents.  HERE

Liberty Mutual and Planned Parenthood: Is There a Connection?

  LM_China-RGB  pp

Since the public release of the damning undercover videos of Planned Parenthood (PP)  staffers and administrators discussing the harvesting of organs as part of their abortion process many Americans have taken a sincere interest in where PP gets their funding.

Many Americans feel that the federal government should not fund agencies like this, the left feel it is a vital part of their “woman’s right to choose” mantra.  Yet, even the most ardent of left-wingers are hesitant to jump into the cesspool that is growing in PP’s backyard.   They are beginning to sense that PP’s marketing and public relations teams have done an admirable job of keeping their reality out of the eye of the general public … until now.

Many news sources have been sharing lists of companies who support Planned Parenthood.  My family and I have been with Liberty Mutual for over 15 years and have enjoyed a great relationship with the staff in our local office and those we have dealt with at regional and corporate offices the few times that we have had to make claims.   I have always been quick to recommend them to people looking for  good insurance company because we have had such a positive experience for so long.

When I saw that Liberty Mutual was on the list of those giving to PP, I did what I often do, I do my own research and make sure that the information that has been shared with me is correct.

Yesterday, I tweeted Liberty Mutual my question and below you have their response:

Untitleddocument (1)-page-0

About an hour ago I got a call from a representative from Liberty Mutual’s corporate headquarters in Boston to follow up on my Twitter query.  I must admit that I was impressed that they responded in less than 24 hours.

The woman, named Kristine, explained the following to me.  While LM doesn’t directly fund PP through corporate grants and the like, PP *is* one of the 7500 non-profits that LM employees can donate to via payroll deductions.  Additionally, LM matches employee donations to the tune of 50 cents to the dollar.

I then asked how a non-profit is put on this list of 7500 non-profits.  She said that if an employee has a non-profit that they want to support and is not on the list, they can submit the non-profit for consideration to be added to the list.  As long as the non-profit is a 501c3 in good standing, they will add it to the list for employees to donate to, and for the company to match, again, 50 cents to the dollar.

I explained my objections to my money being indirectly put in the hands of PP and she was very open to my comments and thoughts.  I asked that she consider passing my thoughts up the chain to the decision makers in the hopes that they may reconsider including PP on their list of charities/non-profits.

If they do not publicly share the removal of PP from their list of non-profits, we plan on changing insurance companies.  Why?  Because we are at a point in our lives where we need to make sure our money is being used for things that we support and in all honesty, the more Americans who make this decision, the sooner we can orchestrate change in the right direction.

Obama and Wasserman: Sorry! Feminism does not Equal Abortion

If you need more proof that the Obama Campaign is running scared, look no further than this video (Hat tip: Chicks on the Right)  that was posted on YouTube on Friday.   Entitled, “Republican Women for Obama,” two women featured in the video have been proven to be strong in the Democratic party – one having enough juice to have actually had a meeting with Michelle Obama earlier this year.

So, for starters, not only are the women in this video disingenuous, I have to laugh at the scenery given in the video as well. Trying to appeal to the rural voters, we see farms with old barns, wheelbarrows, flowers and the wind blowing through their hairs. This little veiled slight-of-hand didn’t get past me – making liberals look wholesome?

Going further, the claim that supporting abortion somehow makes Obama a believer in the Republican stance of smaller government is nothing short of laughable.  In fact it is hysterical.  How can any rational thinker say that by supporting abortion in addition to supporting that governmental financial monstrosity called Obamacare equates to smaller government?

This video is nothing more than an affront to all American women and a direct insult to our intelligence. As a Conservative I know how to glean real information from an ad or article and don’t simply take anything that comes from either side of the aisle as gospel.  My response to this is simple – there is no way any of these women could have been long-time Republicans because Republican women just aren’t that naïve.   This video erroneously insinuates that Feminism equal Abortion.  This has been a liberal tactic for years now – telling women that if they don’t support abortion that they are saying they don’t support their gender’s right to equality within the  law.  True equality covers every aspect of our lives politically, socially, economically and educationally.  Equality is not synonymous with the right to an abortion.

The Republican Party’s platform on abortion has been consistent for as long as I can remember – we are against it.  Some waiver when the issue of rape and incest are brought into the picture; yet we are firm on the fact that is it not a form of contraception.  Going further, these women are claiming that the only issue that is of concern to them is a woman’s right to choose.  If this election were based on this one issue alone, then why are both campaigns wasting all of this money campaigning and traveling around this great country of ours?  The Obama Campaign is trying to narrow the scope of their argument to the only part of it that he can control.

Because of Obama’s dismal record on the economy, his Obamacare and his inability to control the deficit (to name a few); he has no other choice than to attempt to move the focus of the election away from his failures.  He tries to tell those stupid enough to believe him that the Republican Party has suddenly changed its stance on abortion and that we now want to overturn Roe v. Wade.   Sorry Honey, but that has been on the Republican books since the day Roe v. Wade was passed.

After taking a look at how Democratic Party Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was taken to task by CNN’s Anderson Cooper for clearly lying about the Romney/Ryan Campaign’s position on abortion by misquoting the LA Times, this kind of slight-of-hand is obviously now part of the DNC’s platform.  Taking completely out of context said quote, Wasserman was caught red-handed by Cooper and did so much doublespeak in defense of her misquote that she shot herself in the foot so many times I lost track.  Cooper caught her red-handed misrepresenting a quote from a LA Times article, which spoke in generalities about the GOP’s platform and made no specific reference to abortion.   Wasserman used this LA Times article as the foundation of her claim to Obama supporters in a fundraising email stating that the GOP was making substantive changes to the party platform on abortion . After Cooper refusing to let the issue go, Wasserman refuses to admit that she was caught and stated that, “It didn’t matter.” It didn’t matter because, according to Wasserman, the purpose of the email was to show,

Anderson, the bottom line message of our e- mail is that, A., women need to know the difference between the two parties and the two presidential candidates on a woman’s right to make her own reproductive choices and that Mitt Romney can say that he’s for an exception for rape or incest.  His party platform doesn’t reflect that. He has previously fully embraced a human life amendment with no exception and said he would be delighted to support it and women need to know the difference. And women need to know that Mitt Romney is simply saying one thing, but not insisting that his party’s policies as reflected in their platform reflect his views. And we’re not going to let him get away with it. This is an important decision.

Cooper goes on and insists that a candidate’s views can be different from the party’s platform and that while a candidate can make suggestions or recommend changes to the platform, Romney’s platform and the parties do not and apparently aren’t one in the same.   Remember, this is Anderson Cooper, not Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh, going after Wasserman for outright lying to solicit funds from Obama supporters.  That speaks volumes when someone like Cooper isn’t giving the liberal left a free pass when they lie to the American people.

I guess my next question would be; what does matter to the DNC?  -Apparently winning at any cost and a woman’s right to an abortion – those are the only two things.

In closing, I want the media to continue to brow beat Wasserman as she overtly uses misdirection to deceive the American people.

And, I want these women to put their money where their mouth is. I want them to show us their voter registration record for the past 10 years and then, I would love to have a chat with these ladies!  We can sit out on that nice patio at their farm …

“Eight Years Later”? The NYT Editorial Needs a History Lesson

This narrow-mined editorial, sans by-line,  in the NY Times is nothing more than the Obama Press attempting to spin an issue, as he often does, claiming inheritance as his cover.

More and more often Obama himself or a member of his staff is pointing the finger at the Bush Adminstration for their ills. I find this move childish and a true sign of the simple fact that Obama just wanted to show that he could win the election, not run the country. Much like the brides who focus their entire energy on planning the perfect wedding, they never take a look at what happens after the honeymoon and if she and her future husband really have what it takes to survive marriage.

The “ghost” writer of this editorial needs to do some homework on the intelligence community – they are a bunch of boys playing on the same playground refusing to share their toys. The CIA, FBI, NSA, HLS, etc. all want to be the one getting the press when a story breaks so they refuse to share info and we, the American people, pay the price.

Legislation has been passed, some even repeatedly, insisting that the big boys of DC’s Alphabet Soup Gangs start freely sharing information yet they still refuse to do so for no other reason that pride, bragging rights. This has been a problem long before Obama was born, let alone took office. If Obama wants agencies to share information he will have to start making high-level heads roll to get their attention.

Unfortunately, Obama is still sitting on his couch eating popcorn watching his inauguration, much like the unhappy bride watching her perfectly planned wedding video … both are ignoring the reality that is staring them in the face and wondering how something so perfectly planned could have gone so badly so quickly.

There IS Hope … Well Maybe

Hello? Is anybody home? It's me ... The President?
Hello? Is anybody home? It's me ... The President?

Just took a jaunt over to Fox News and found a few fun stories that would be perfect for what I like to call one of my potpourri posts.

1)      A State Department employee who is also an attorney has filed a lawsuit claiming that Sec. of State Hillary Clinton has illegally taken the post and must resign.  Here is AP’s report on the lawsuit, shortest AP article I have ever seen!

2)   Hannity has a new segment called Media Mash that I really like. He takes a glimpse at the week’s media bias and then has a guest contributor do the commentary with him. Unfortunately there is no link to this week’s segment but if you do go to Fox News >Hannity>Videos find the video clip entitled “Window Treatment”, it’s a hoot!

3)   President Obama tried to walk into the White House through a window! Sure, a window can look like a door and he has only occupied the White House for a little over a week so I can personally cut him some slack. I am sure he is still figuring out how to get from the private residency to various staffers offices. Now, yeah, it is funny for a chuckle but how this was basically ignored and how the flubs that President Bush made during his term were again, night and day.

But there is no Media Bias, right?

Iseman vs. the NY Times: The winner is … The Attorneys

Former Presidential Candidate John S. McCain
Former Presidential Candidate John S. McCain

This AP article from last night has some intriguing undertones that are more than worthy of some space for today’s post. In short, a telecommunication lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, who was linked romantically to then presidential candidate John McCain in February of ’08 by the NY Times, has now taken legal action against the Times.

The intricacies of the claims and the responses from both sides are in and of itself newsworthy but it was the last part of this AP article that made me pause a moment.

“Ms. Iseman’s relationship with Senator McCain was entirely professional, ethical, and appropriate,” the lawsuit states, adding that it “was not different in kind from the cordial yet professional relationship that hundreds of lobbyists have with hundreds of members of Congress.”

The part that I found bothersome is the insinuation that this is a typical, some might even say traditional and acceptable behavior, for a member of Congress and a lobbyist. I think we can all come to the consensus that Congress, regardless of political party, is not there to truly serve the people they represent back home, but to serve themselves. Yes, they do work on legislation that often is passed and provides a nice park or improve the interstate and the like but that is nothing more than appeasement.

Someone may complain about their congressional representative all the while there will be someone saying, “Yeah, but remember when he did X? That really was a benefit to many in the community.” It may well have been, but it was nothing more than table scraps thrown your way to keep you happy and something to remind you of come re-election. Show me one member of Congress who truly cares about their district. I don’t mean to be cynical but this is the way it is. DC is nothing more than a ‘you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours’ club.

They placate to us and to the media all in the name of democracy yet the only people in DC who really have their collective ear are the most powerful of the lobbyists. This situation is Iseman is almost laughable. Lobbyists are the ones who really run DC, they have the money to make the members of the House and Senate at least listen … if only “We the People” had that kind of clout.

Now the interesting backdraft, if you will, will be how McCain will fit into all of this. If there are lawyers involved, you can bet that McCain will be threatened with a supoena. What will the Maverick do? We shall see …
